Doctor Chaiya Sherman is a Washington licensed Acupuncturist and Doctor of Asian Medicine.

Sometimes our calling is so strong that we can hear it as children. This was exactly the case with Dr. Chaiya.

From the age of 3 she knew that science, and medicine would play big roles in her future.

In high school Chaiya found herself suffering miserably from migraines. But almost worst than the migraines was how she found her doctors only recourse was to give her stronger, and stronger narcotics. She knew that drowning her headaches out with pain killers was not sustainable. Chaiya realized she needed to search for more natural remedies. She soon learned about Shiatsu, Asian medicine, and about healing the body through diet and lifestyle changes. But the biggest shift was when a friend introduced her to acupuncture. After a few months of acupuncture treatments Chaiya’s headaches were gone from her life for good.

Today, Chaiya specializes in treating chronic pain conditions like headaches, sports injuries, and arthritis conditions. In addition, she treats general health concerns and the entire reproductive cycle from hormone balancing to labor.

Chaiya graduated with a masters of science in acupuncture and oriental medicine (MSAOM) from Bastyr University, having studied with internationally regarded practitioners, and continued her studies at Bastyr with a doctorate in acupuncture and oriental medicine (DAOM). Her capstone research explored the use of transforming psychological experiences with acupuncture to alleviate chronic pain conditions. Her doctoral work included two years of study with Harborview Medical Center's "Acute Pain Service" post-surgical team, hospice, and palliative care teams.

Further studies include Whitfield Reeves' Acupuncture Sports Medicine Apprenticeship, Qigong with Lee Holden and Anthony Korahais, and continuing studies of both classical and modern texts on pain, psychology, and fertility.

Chaiya is a 2021 inductee of the Washington Acupuncture and Eastern Medicine Association Board of Directors and is a volunteer with Acupuncturists without Borders. On a personal note, Chaiya enjoys spending time with her family and long walks on the beach.
